Sunday April 20 the EASTER PARADE was held here in NYC. It was a fine spring day, a little windy, but really nice. Fifth Avenue in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Rockefeller Center was closed to traffic for about 10 blocks, and it’s more of a promenade that an actual parade. People come to stroll, to see and be seen. It’s family friendly with lots of creativity, imagination, zaniness, and good vibes.
I started shooting parades with the first Easter Parade after 9-11 to do something upbeat after some dark times. It was a joy, and I’ve been shooting fun parades here ever since. Ultimately this series PARTY PARADE PORTRAIT will be in black and white, but this parade is so much about color and costume that I’m going with all color to share here with this audience. Hope you enjoy the pix!! Please click/tap to see as intended.
Tech note: I use a mix of flash and daylight for a “look” and this time I only used wide-angle and fish-eye lenses.
